“The Housemaid” is a new thriller/mystery movie that came out on Dec. 19, 2025. The movie is based on the book about a young girl named Millie, an ex-con looking for a fresh start and searching for a job. She is hired by a wealthy couple and their daughter, who need a live-in housemaid, and later on finds out their secrets. The couple is not what they appear to be.
“The Housemaid” begins calmly, but Mille quickly realizes the hostility of Nina’s, the wife’s, personality. Even though Millie is treated badly, she has no choice but to stay so she doesn’t get sent back to jail.
The wife becomes more and more intense with Millie, but luckily, the husband watches out for Millie. After a major incident occurs, Millie soon realizes why Nina is the way she is.
The director, Paul Feig, has made other popular movies like “Simple Favor” and “Ghostbusters”. “Simple Favor” is a thriller as well, and is one of my favorite movies, so I was excited to see this one.
My friend and I decided to go see it after watching a lot of people post their opinions about the movie on TikTok.
After watching it, I thought it was a really good movie. I enjoyed the suspense and the way the perspective changes halfway through.
The second perspective reveals the truth and ties the movie together. The wife, Nina, was my favorite character in the movie. Though she appears crazy, she was also strong and very determined. It does have a good amount of blood, which you should be aware of.
My overall rating of the movie would be a 9 out of 10 because it was a great thriller movie, but it gets a little dragged on at the end. I would recommend this movie to people who enjoy suspenseful movies like “Simple Favor”.
