The newest “Knives Out” movie “Wake Up Dead Man” was good, and much better than “Glass Onion”,however it is not as good as the original “Knives Out”. The story had me looking everywhere, and was confusing at some points, but overall was pretty good.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but if I was nitpicking, it would probably be the plot development in the latter half, as I felt it was all over the place. It was most likely just my lack of understanding, but I feel that it would be better if it was more polished. Other than that, there really was no question needed to be asked. The story writing was great and the mystery had me lost.
Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc was the best, like usual, but was matched decently by Josh O’Connor, who plays Jud Duplenticy. Craig has been great as Benoit Blanc in all previous “Knives out movies” and nothing has changed. I have never seen a Josh O’Connor movie and this was most definitely a great first impression.
I loved his acting and the way he was able to portray his character. The story was greatly written and the portrayal of the impossible crime was awesome to see unfold. There wasn’t a second of the movie where I wasn’t on the edge of my seat. It was so intriguing to see O’Connor put on such a great performance.
I really loved the darker themes that had really shown the difference between true faith and false faith, as well as the exploitation of people’s faith in order to gain power amongst them. I really love it because, while not to this scale and extremity, you can see this exploitation in real life.
This movie was so good and the dark themes that weren’t really seen as much in the previous two “Knives Out” movies made me love it so much more. I love how different this one is from all the other installments and it really sets it above the other two in some ways. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give it an 8.5.
