Two Oakmont High School alumni cemented their relationship with each other during a beautiful wedding ceremony on Oct. 8.

Sydnie McQueen and Davis Ruggles finally got married after being with each other for eight long years.

The two of them met in 2014, while they both still attended Oakmont. Davis graduated in 2015, and Sydnie in 2016.

They were complete opposites that came together to form a bond that filled the holes in each other’s lives.

Their wedding was held at the Miner’s Foundry in Nevada City, CA. Both of their families joined together to celebrate the start to their new life together.

The theme of the wedding was floral black and white, with Ruggles wearing an all black suit and McQueen wearing a beautiful white wedding dress.

The groomsmen wore black suits with white button downs and black ties, and the bridesmaids wore long black dresses.

McQueen’s grandfather walked her down the aisle, wearing a white suit.

The accent flower that was used at the wedding were white anemones, symbolizing the sincerity in their relationship.

Replacing the traditional large beautiful wedding cake, they had a substantial selection of different types of cupcakes as well as a simple two tiered cake.

The cupcakes and cake were selected purposefully to adhere to different people’s dietary restrictions. The whole cake was gluten free, because of McQueen’s gluten-intolerance, with the top tier being double chocolate for Ruggles and the bottom tier being brown butter for McQueen.

After the main ceremony but before dinner, Ruggles’ father gave a speech addressed to the happy couple telling them to enjoy their new life together while also reflecting on the past with some of his favorite memories.

Later on, McQueen’s grandmother also gave a speech, recalling her memories of when McQueen and Ruggles first met, seeing as the two of them shared a backyard fence and would look over the fence to talk.

The wedding of the newly Mr. and Mrs. Ruggles was a beautiful memory that will last in the minds of everyone in attendance. From the venue and decorations, to the ceremony. Even to the send off of the newly married couple at the end.

They are looking forward to a honeymoon in one of their dream locations, Hawaii.
