Christmas edition Optimus Prime is a completely new mold with a brand new take on the standard Optimus Prime conversion scheme, with the legs becoming the front of the truck and the upper body becoming the truck bed.
This version of Optimus Prime is festive themed, with the box art showing him in his truck mode driving through snow with a Christmas tree in the background, behind the nose of the truck. The “brow” of the truck, or the area above the windshield, has text stating “Happy Holidays”. The rest of the truck mode is just as festive, the trailer having a candy cane coloration and on the front with an Autobot symbol with a Santa hat on it. The main truck continues this festive theme with green windows, red and white colors throughout the truck, and a general festive, softer feel to it.
As mentioned previously, this Optimus Prime is a completely new mold. Not the trailer though, which is the same trailer that came with War for Cybertron: Earthrise Optimus Prime, along with Target crossover Optimus Prime, spoiler pack Netflix edition Nemesis Prime, etc. But the actual conversion for this Optimus Prime is unique, as it flips the usual scheme on its head, making the front of the truck smoothly and satisfyingly turn into the legs of the robot mode, the truck grill becoming knee pads. Whereas the upper body becomes the underbelly and truck bed for this Optimus Prime. In the end, you get a very nice looking Optimus Prime.
The robot mode for this Optimus Prime looks like it is wearing a Santa costume, having everything except for the hat. Optimus Prime’s normal, jet black ion blaster gets a festive candy cane color, or the “Candy Cane Cannon”. Optimus Prime is highly poseable having the standard articulation plus a little bit more in some areas. Overall, he is a very good looking robot, very good looking truck, and an all around great figure.
