On October 27, 2020, at 6 pm,  the AP/IB night will be hosted through Zoom; it will be accessible with a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android device.

This October’s AP/IB night is designed for families and students who are new to Oakmont and are unfamiliar with the IB Diploma Program or the Advanced Placement Program.

Oakmont’s IB Coordinator, Mrs. Geluk, will be the primary speaker for this night, explaining to and helping families understand the IB diploma program. Oakmont’s AP Coordinator, Mrs. Rossmiller, will also be there to “briefly address the major structural differences between IB and AP,” Rossmiller said.

IB is made for students “to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect,” the Oakmont website states. “To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations.”

This is primarily for eighth grade and ninth grade families that are interested in or already considering an IB or AP pathway.

OHS students who are debating about which IB and AP classes they might want to register for next year should plan to attend the January AP/IB Night instead.
