Homecoming week! Everyone looks forward to dressing up each day of the week in fun spirit wear to show our Oakmont pride. At the end of the week, Friday, Oct. 3 we had a home football game against Center High school. Saturday, Oct. 4 is our homecoming dance.
Monday, Sep. 29 is Frontierland (western) theme. People wore their cowboy boots, big cowboy hats, denim jeans, and flannels. This look is very country-western.
Tuesday, Sep. 30 was Disney Tourist (Disney apparel/accessories) We went all out Disney with this one. Wearing our Disney ears, Disney character themed clothing, or Disney accessories like bracelets, earrings, etc. Wednesday, Oct. 1 was Jungle Cruise. This had a lot of animal-print options. Students wore camo print, any animal print, or safari gear, like khakis, binoculars and hats. Many people wore camo, as it is currently trending.
On Thursday, Oct. 2, the theme was Jedi V Sith. Freshman and Sophomores (underclassmen) were supposed to wear blue, representing the Jedis. Juniors and Seniors (upperclassmen) wore red, replicating the Sith.
Friday, Oct. 3, was Frozen Friday-white out. We all wore as much white as possible: white shirts, white shoes, white shorts, and white socks.
We also had float building during the week, Saturday through Thursday. Each grade level had a different Disney movie-themed float that they decorated and showed off during the homecoming football game halftime.
Freshman were “The Little Mermaid”, Sophomores were “Aladdin”, Juniors were “Tangled”, and seniors were “Frozen” themed.
Every grade built their own float separately. They each got shown and acted out during a small skit during halftime that Friday.
Friday, Oct. 3, royalty for homecoming court was announced during the rally. They were called up and recognized individually.
The senior homecoming royalty winners were Hargun Bangu and Gabby Yarza.
The winners of the homecoming floats were the Juniors with their amazing little mermaid “Tangled” themed float, starring Maddie Leimbach, Matthew Ricci, and Gianna Pane.
The week ended with the homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7pm.
