The NFL 2024-2025 season is coming to an end. 14 teams have fought their way through the playoffs, with their eyes on the ultimate prize: Super Bowl 59. The playoffs consist of two brackets: one for the American Football Conference (AFC) and one for the National Football Conference (NFC).
Each conference is seeded 1-7 based on who won their division titles and who had the three best records among the teams who did not win their division. Those teams are called “Wildcards”.
The first playoff game this year was held on Jan. 11. The Pittsburgh Steelers played against the Baltimore Ravens, who won 28-14. Later that day, the Los Angeles Chargers lost to the Houston Texans, 32-12.
The next day was filled with more “wildcard” games. The Denver Broncos lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-7, and the Green Bay Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 22-10. The last day of “wildcard” games were on Sunday, Jan. 14. The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 27-9, and the Washington Commanders beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a close game of 23-20.
The next weekend of football was a weekend of divisional battles where the Ravens lost to the Bills, 27-25, and the Chiefs beat the Texans, 23-14. Continuing through the weekend, the Eagles beat the Rams, 28 to 22, and the Commanders beat the Lions, 45-31.
The games on Sunday, Jan. 26 will determine the champions of the NFC and AFC, with the Commanders against the Eagles and the Bills against the Chiefs. The winner of these two games will also determine which teams go to the Super Bowl at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. This year’s Super Bowl takes place on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3:30 pm PST.
According to Insight to Action, 35% to 47% of adult consumers will engage in a Super Bowl party, either as hosts or guests; my family is a part of that range.
My family hosts a Super Bowl party every year with family and friends. We bet on the game and play all different types of games related to the Super Bowl. My personal favorite is Ad Bingo, where you try and get bingo based on the ads that happen during the Super Bowl game. We eat all different types of snacks: a charcuterie board shaped like a football, all different types of chips and dips, pizza, etc.
What do you eat when you watch the Super Bowl?
