The 2025 Golden Globes were a whirlwind of highs and lows but one thing came out on top; Zendaya Coleman appeared on the carpet with a rock on her finger, revealing her engagement to boyfriend Tom Holland publicly.
The duo began working with one another on “Spider-man: Homecoming” in 2016. They grew close during filming, sparking rumors of romance online, and reportedly started seeing each other in 2017. However, there wasn’t direct confirmation of their relationship until 2021, when they were spotted sharing a moment of PDA in their car.
Since then, they have become an “it couple” in the public sphere.
After partnering on multiple projects together, and appearing on several red carpets alongside one another, Coleman showed up to the Golden Globes on Jan. 5 with a ring on her finger, immediately catching the attention of the public. Neither Holland nor Coleman have said anything about their engagement but Holland’s father, Dominic Holland, an author and comedian, shared some information on his $2 Patreon.
“Tom, as you know by now, was incredibly well prepared,” Dominic wrote. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”
He also shared that Holland never read many books growing up, so he must have learned how to properly propose from the cheesy romantic comedies of his time. He also divulged his fears of public pressure on the couple. He fears that their “combined stardom will amplify their spotlight and commensurate demands on them”.
His fears are reasonable. Coleman starred in critically acclaimed films “Challengers” and “Dune: Part Two” in 2024 alone, as well as being a fashion icon on numerous red carpets. Holland was featured in Men’s Health Magazine this month, and is reported to star in Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film. Their towering public figures are likely the reason that the pair has kept their engagement under wraps and hasn’t shared much information thus far.
The two haven’t appeared on social media or in interviews to discuss the milestone, but fans are sure that Coleman and Holland have their engagement melody on replay.
