Have you ever wondered if you could survive in a world taken over by robots? “Scrap Mechanic” is just that, where you wake up as the only survivor in a crashed spaceship on Earth.
“Scrap Mechanic” is a first-person, multiplayer, adventure story-mode game where you must create and defend your farm against waves of evil “Farm Bots” to survive.
The gameplay
In story mode, you spawn in a large, randomly generated world with multiple structures and buildings. The player’s goal is to enter and raid one of the three story warehouses (a difficult task), which are spread randomly across the world.
Other objectives include defeating a “red farm bot”, finding the trader, and finding the second crashed ship. Players can’t complete these goals unless the needs below are met.
Each person has a hunger, health, and hydration bar at the bottom of their screen indicating the comfort of their character. This means that creating a farm is essential for your survival. Before you make a farm, you must find the best location, which means creating transportation to get to places faster.
Other game modes
The game’s creativity is seemingly endless. With the addition of creative and challenge modes, the player base has swarmed to the Steam Workshop for ideas and designs. The Steam Workshop is a free online platform, where players can upload their game designs for others to use in their worlds, sort of like blueprints.
Creative mode allows the players to invent and create their crazy ideas, without the constant need to fight off farm bots.
My review
I’ve recently been playing “Scrap Mechanic” a lot with my friends, and personally, had a fun time. Sure, the game may not be for everyone because of the large amount of glitching and lag, especially when playing multiplayer, but don’t let that stop you from playing it.
One of the many reasons I’m still playing the game is because the developers are still updating it. They are planning to release one of the game’s largest updates sometime in 2025. They are also planning to completely rework most of the game’s features and add cool new ways to explore.
