Spirit Halloween is an essential part of the lives of many who celebrate Halloween, from the fun and scary costumes to the spooky animatronics and gory graphic tees. Chances are anyone who celebrates the beloved holiday has been inside one of the many Spirit stores.
According to the website Statista, 73% of Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year. That is 245 million Americans who need to buy costumes, decorations or at least buy candy. The Halloween market is in high demand every year and Spirit Halloween brings the business, but what about Christmas?
Not every holiday comes with die-hard fans like Halloween, but that doesn’t mean that those holidays aren’t loved. According to a survey done by YouGov, 52% of Americans celebrate and enjoy Christmas. The demand for Christmas-related decorations and goods is arguably higher than Halloween goods. This has led to the well-known store, Spirit Halloween, announcing a new branch of stores named Spirit Christmas, on the East Coast.
These Spirit Christmas stores will have everything from decorations and trees to free photos with Santa. They might just be a Christmas fan favorite. Spirit is going to test the waters for their new idea by opening only 10 stores this year, in cities such as Waterford, Connecticut; Dartmouth, Massachusetts; Brick Township, Marlton, Mays Landing, and Woodbridge, New Jersey; Albany, Bohemia, Poughkeepsie, and Erie, Pennsylvania.
“I think it is another cash grab for the Spirit Halloween company,” Oakmont senior and Halloween-lover Izabella Hooglander said. “But I think it will be good nonetheless.”
If the Spirit Christmas stores become a hit this Christmas, Spirit will be bringing them to more states and maybe even the West Coast. Will Spirit Christmas be normal for the next generation? Or just a lost idea and the trial and error of 2024? Will there eventually be a Spirit Thanksgiving or Spirit Easter? All great questions that can’t be answered until the stores are open this Christmas.
