KSI’s new song, “Thick of It”, is being negatively criticized online by streamers and listeners because of the “cringe” parts in the song’s lyrics.
Olajide Olayinka Williams, more commonly known as KSI, is a 31-year-old social media influencer, music producer, professional boxer, and co-owner of Prime and Lunchly.
Williams released his music video “Thick of It,” featuring Trippie Redd, on his YouTube channel “KSI” on Oct. 3. It currently has 37 million views, over 450 thousand comments, and only around 800 thousand likes. Most comments consist of people commenting negatively about how bad the song is.
“KSI cooked and gave us food poisoning,” negative commenter, Asterrin, said in reference to the new Gen-Z slang.
Streamers such as Adin Ross and Darren Jason Watkins Jr., known as IShowSpeed, criticized “Thick of It” while live-streaming with Williams. IShowSpeed reacted to “Thick of It” with Williams on the live- stream by bluntly saying he should “quit” and “turn that trash song off.”
Williams also reacted to his song. Constantly throughout the video, he gave positive comments about the music, lyrics, and visuals of the song.
“I am very happy,” William said “Oh my God, this is crazy, this is so sick.”
Even with Williams’ own opinion about his own song, the song is not great. The visuals of the song were good, and the music was fine, but the main issue was the lyrics. The lyrics in the song were generic and corny from certain perspectives, focusing on Williams’s perseverance in his life.
Williams was also getting additional hate because of the controversy around him and Lunchly. The hate from Lunchly was also pushed on to “Thick of It”, which led to the song getting over hated on social media.
“Thick of It” is not a bad song; it’s a below-average song that has been over-hated on social media.
