Starting Youtube at just 13, MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson, has obtained over 310 million subscribers. That is until the recent discovery of his staff’s and his dark history.
MrBeast started out as a gaming channel, uploading videos of him playing video games on Youtube, known as “Let’s Play”. This continued until he went viral in 2017 for counting to 100,000 in one video. The video quickly rose to fame and gained tens of thousands of views in just a few days.
From then, MrBeast began to shift his channel’s focus away from gaming and into videos like counting to 100,000. He started uploading himself and a group of friends doing challenges and other obnoxious pranks, and the rest is history.
Since then, MrBeast has become a huge inspiration to the Youtube community, as well as the most subscribed to Youtuber ever. He won the Favorite Male Creator award three times.
In most of his videos, he has the same group of friends that help contribute. Over the years, new people joined, others left, and some stayed the whole time. A month ago, his group was made up of 4 friends: Chandler Hallow, Nolan Hansen, Ava Tyson, and Karl Jacobs.
This group of people was considered “MrBeast’s crew”, as they are in every challenge and video MrBeast uploads, while also getting paid to do so. Fans grew to love them and they became a staple in MrBeast’s videos.
That was until July 25th, 2023, when one of the original members, and MrBeast’s childhood best friends, came out as transexual. Who was previously known as Kris Tyson, now going by Ava Tyson, left her wife and son and started transitioning. After getting much hate on social media, Tyson wasn’t seen in any MrBeast videos for months and people thought MrBeast kicked her off the channel.
Things soon died down and slowly, but surely, Tyson made appearances back on MrBeast’s channel. With hate still pouring out of the comment section of every video Tyson made an appearance in, she remained unbothered and happy with who she had become.
It soon came out that Tyson had been secretly grooming and texting underage fans, ultimately leading her to quit the channel for good. The scandal associated with MrBeast is that he supposedly had knowledge of this happening beforehand and kept it a secret. Adding to this horror story, MrBeast tried to cover it up and hid the fact that Tyson still worked there, by making her wear masks in his videos.
Although the accusations against MrBeast and his knowledge of Tyson’s actions have not been proven, they still damaged his channel significantly, losing thousands of subscribers a day. Fans wonder what MrBeast’s next move is, and whether he will speak out against these accusations or keep posting as usual.
