The Stanley company has been making water bottles for over a century, so why is there a sudden rise in popularity? Recently, Stanley took their original design and flipped it upside down, creating a modern design, Stanley Quencher, for Generation Z.
Stanley’s growth in popularity
Generation Z didn’t latch onto the idea of modern Stanleys after they first launched the Quencher, causing them to toy with the idea of shutting down production and going back to their original design. It wasn’t until a group of moms in Utah made posts about them, bringing up Stanley’s popularity. For the last four years, their popularity has only gone up. Big-time influencers and celebrities have made Stanley a household name.
But why are they so popular?
The cups are built to fit in car cup holders and hold up to 40 oz of water. They come in many pastel colors, patterns, and designs, and they have a large straw that can be switched to a coffee cup lid with a twist of the top and a handle on the side.
Stanley Stealer and prices
On Jan. 17, a woman stole roughly 65 Stanley products from a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Roseville, California. The price of these Stanley’s adds up to around $2,500. Her plan for these 65 multi-colored Stanley’s has not yet been shared but it is crazy to think that she would need 65 Stanleys.
“While Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we strongly advise against turning to a life of crime to fulfill your hydration habits,” The Roseville Police Department said in a recent Facebook post.
The normal price range of a Stanley product can vary between $25 – $100 on their website depending on what model, color, and design of the order. As overpriced as you think that may be, people are now selling limited edition and custom ones for up to $1,000 on other sites such as eBay and Etsy.
