The Oakmont Vikings have concluded preseason play, and are now preparing for another run at a Foothill Valley League championship. Last season, the Vikings went 16-2 in league play, capturing their first league title since 2019.

The Vikings open league play against the West Park Panthers. The Panthers have a talented team, which cannot be taken lightly by the Vikings as they can find a way to win under any circumstances. The Panthers come into league play with a 6-2 pre-season record.

Last year, the Vikings got a series sweep against the Panthers, so they are likely going to come out hungry to win and get revenge.

After the week one matchup against the Panthers, the Vikings will go to Fresno for their annual spring break tournament, the Fresno Easter Classic. When the Vikings return, they play the Ponderosa Bruins.

The Vikings opened up league play last year against the Bruins, and got the best of them in a gusty three-game sweep. The Bruins have a good team and are also going to give the Vikings a challenge because of their fate in 2022. The Bruins come in at 2-3-1 from the pre-season.

In week three, the Vikings play the Lincoln Zebras. The Zebras have been struggling to play games this year because of the weather that has been occurring throughout Northern California. The Zebras come into league play at 1-2, with their only win over Las Plumas of Orville.

Week four of league play is going to be a true test for the Vikings, as they play the Nevada Union Miners. The Vikings lost the series last season to the Miners, which gave them their only two league losses of the season. The Vikings are ready to get revenge from last year and take the series against the Miners. The Miners are entering the  league standing at 8-1.

The Vikings close out the season against the Placer Hillman. This week is always a week that is highly anticipated by the Vikings because of the final game of the series being played under the lights in a night game.

Not only is there a game under the lights in the week against the Hillman, though it is also Senior day in game two of the series. The Hillman come into league play at 3-1.

The Vikings will have a tough test in league play to try and become the back-to-back Foothill Valley League Champions, but they will take it one game at a time, starting against the Panthers.
