As of Oct. 15 at 2 a.m., Stockton police caught a possible suspect related to the Stockton serial murders.

Officials arrested a 43-year-old male named Wesley Brownlee. They believe he was on a hunt when they found him.

Brownlee has lived in Stockton on and off and has a criminal record in California and Arizona for drug and traffic violations – as well as a DUI – but none for violence.

He was sentenced to two years in prison in 1999 for possession and the selling of a controlled substance.

In addition, he was in state prison for three years in 2001 for transporting and selling drugs. He got parole in 2003 and was discharged from parole in 2006.

When the police found him, Brownlee was wearing dark clothing with a mask around his neck and a firearm in his waistband. The police surveillance team followed him while he was driving early Saturday morning and were watching his pattern.

When appearing in court on Oct. 18, he was stoic and unemotional. Brownlee was identified to have used the very first ghost gun. The ghost gun allowed him to 3D print it without a federal mandated serial number and background check.

Brownlee was charged with three counts of murders. He was charged for the murders of Jonathan Hernandez Rodriguez, Juan Cruz, and Lawrence Lopez.

He may also be charged for the murder in Oakland, however, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is not yet clear whether charges would be pursued against him there.

Stockton police believe that the only motive was the mission to kill because each victim had different features. Attorneys are trying to charge him for the remaining three murders and one harmed victim.
