As of Oct. 4, there have been seven shootings that have been linked to the Stockton serial killer, only 66.3 miles away from Roseville.

The Stockton serial killer has been committing murders since April 10, 2021,  however his criminal identity wasn’t discovered until Oct. 4 when investigators saw footage of what looked like, and was later discovered to be, the same person.

The Stockton serial killer’s first victim was April 10, 2021 in Oakland at 4:18am. The victim was a hispanic man named Juan Miguel Vasquez Serrano, and he was 40 years old.

Serrano was homeless but was well known in the Seminary neighborhood of East Oakland. Serrano was trusted by many to fix their cars instead of taking it into a shop. Some people in the neighborhood would let Serrano sleep in the car he was fixing.

The second victim was shot on April 16, 2021 in Stockton at 3:20am. She was the only victim out of the seven shootings who have survived.

When the woman was interviewed, she stated that she was in her tent the night of the shooting when she heard someone walking. When she went outside her tent, she saw a man wearing dark clothes and a mask pointing a gun at her. She was shot multiple times but survived.

The third victim was targeted on Jul. 8 at a park that is a block away from Kermit Lane at 12:30am. The victim was a 35-year-old male named Paul Alexander Yaw. Yaw was taken to the hospital when he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The fourth victim was shot on Aug. 11 in a parking lot that was five minutes away from the first homicide. The victim was killed at about 9:49pm. The victim was a 43-year-old male named Salvador William Debudey Jr. Debudey Jr. was found by officers who started life-saving measures; however, he died at the scene.

The fifth victim was killed on Sept. 21 at the 4400 block of Manchester Avenue at 4:27am. The victim was a 52-year-old male named Juan Cruz.

The sixth victim was killed on Sept. 27 at the 900 block of Porter Avenue before 2am. The victim was a 54-year-old male named Lorenzo Lopez. Lopez was also found by officers at the scene where he was pronounced dead.

The seventh and last-known victim so far was killed Aug. 30 at East Hammer Lane. The victim was a 21-year-old male named Jonathan Hernandez. Hernandez was found dead in his vehicle at the apartment complex in which he lived.

Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden has been looking into all the murders and can’t determine a steady pattern. The time between the first and second attack was six days. The time between the second and third was 448 days. The time from the third to the fourth attack was 34 days and the time from the fifth to the sixth was 22 days.

Even though the time between the murders were inconsistent, most of them happened in Stockton within a four-mile radius of each other. No one is specifically being targeted, but five of the victims out of the six shootings were hispanic men, and four of the victims were homeless.

Every shooting is happening late at night and when the victim is alone. Police are saying that all the shooting may not be linked to the same gun. McFadden is trying to understand why the pistol went dormant for the 448 days between the second and third attack.

As of right now, no suspect has been arrested yet, however police are offering a $125,000 cash reward for anyone who brings in information that helps lead to an arrest.
