As of Oct. 10, indie singer and songwriter Alexander O’Connor, also known by his stage name Rex Orange County, has been accused of six counts of sexual assault that occurred between Jun. 1-2, 2022.

O’Connor has been accused of sexually assaulting one woman six times. The first two assaults were in London on Jun 1. On Jun. 2, he allegedly sexually assaulted the same woman four other times, once in a taxi and three times at his Notting Hill residence.

According to Leading Britain’s Conversation, the anonymous woman is over 16 years old. The age of consent in the UK is 16.

O’Connor denied these allegations on Oct. 10 after he appeared at London’s Southwark Crown Court. O’Connor was then bailed after pleading not guilty, however a later trial date has been scheduled for Jan. 23, 2023.

The singer is not speaking about the situation any further, however his representative did issue a statement about O’Connor being shocked about the allegations and can’t wait to clear his name in court.

O’Connor posted on his Twitter on Jul. 2, stating he was canceling his tour dates in New Zealand, Europe, and Australia due to personal circumstances. Fans were understanding about him canceling the tour until they heard these allegations.

Some fans began to post comments saying certain things along the lines of “I can’t believe he said personal circumstances”… “All his love songs are fake”… “He’s a disgusting horrible man,” etc.

As of right now, O’Connor has not said any more statements about the situation and is dealing with the accusations  privately until the court date.
