California heat laws
Regulations for the excessive heat.
October 11, 2022
With the excessive heat warning that California has recently had, Governor Newsom has produced new regulations regarding this.
Newsom’s new regulations apply to the environment and labor processes.
Due to the temperatures being so high, he has recommended that people should reduce their use of power in their homes from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to prevent power outages.
Newsom also implied that employers must go through specific steps to prevent heat illness for outdoor laborers.
Employers must supply their workers with hydration sources and must provide shade if the weather gets over 80 degrees fahrenheit and encourage rest for workers when they feel the need to do so.
On CA.gov they have provided tips on how to stay safe in the heat wave California has had.
Newsom’s plan to help with public health is most important in these crucial times.
