Jamba Juice is known for their smoothies, juices, and bowls, and have expanded their menu in the past to include things such as cold brews, filling the needs of caffeine lovers.

On Aug. 23, Jamba popped onto the scene with a big announcement for the public: having the ability to incorporate boba into their products.

Boba, also known as bubble tea, is a drink consisting of small balls of tapioca or bursts that has risen to a new level of popularity within the United States.

Jamba locations in Hawaii have already had boba as a part of their menu since the beginning of 2021. However, boba in all other locations is something brand new, and set to be available beginning Sept. 6.

Once that happens, guests will be able to add either strawberry bursting boba or tapioca boba to any drink or bowl of their liking!

Oakmont senior Gabriella Durrans is a fan of Jamba and stated her opinions on the new arrival.

“I think it’s great for people that want boba because then there’s more options at Jamba than just smoothies,” Durrans said. “…it was a smart business move because it was becoming more popular.”

While Jamba is already a busy business, adding a mix-in so popular definitely creates huge changes for the managers and employees.

Manager Ethan Castro at the Sunrise location in Citrus Heights spoke on his opinion regarding the decision and what effect it creates on the store.

“I do believe that the boba will improve our sales such as bringing in new people,” Castro said, “it will improve our app loyalty…because we will have exclusives on there.”

Along with Castro, fellow Sunrise manager Shane Wendland spoke on his overall thoughts about Jamba’s addition.

“…boba is popular, and sure we don’t have like, the fancy teas at the boba shops…but I think, you know we’re pretty accessible,” Wendland said, “…I think it could go well and that people will stop by to check out the boba.”

This boba phenomenon seems to be growing extremely popular as it continues to be added to different businesses’ menus. Popular ice cream shop, Baskin-Robbins, has previously offered a limited time Tiger Milk Bubble Tea in the spring season.

For smoothie and boba devotees, Jamba might just be the ultimate spot to stop by.
