The 25 year old R&B singer, Queen Naija, recently dropped her latest album, “misunderstood,” on October 30. Just from the title of the album, it was safe to say that this album would include some meaningful lyrics in her songs. The new album includes 18 new tracks.

In “Butterflies Pt. 2,” Naija explains how she is deeply in love with her significant other even after all the troubles they’ve gone through. She also sings about how she was not in a very good position in life until she met her significant other. Personally, this song is one of my favorites on the album because I relate to it when dealing with my own significant other.

Safe to say I’ll know that you’ll catch me when I fall,” Naija sings. “Now I got you here, Boy I’m giving you my all.”

Another song from her album is “Love Language,” which explains how Naija feels irritated with how her partner’s not giving her the love and attention that she personally needs. She wants him to start acting like how he did when they first started dating and not how he is currently treating her. This song is good with the slow beats and her calming vocals. It really compliments her vocals.

“Make me feel I’m the only one you need,” Naija sings. “I just need some more reassurance. I just need some time just to vibe with you.”

“Without You” featuring Russ is my overall favorite song from the album because I love how the beat is mellow and both of their voices compliment each other, especially with their meaningful lyrics. In this song, they talk about how they couldn’t be able to live without their partners, showing how much they truly mean to them.

“What would I do without you?” Naija sings. “Sad thing is I probably wouldn’t even know how to live without you.”

In “Pack Lite,” Naija shows how she’s completely over her boyfriend due to the fact that he’s been having a bad attitude around her and barely shows her any love anymore. I feel like many people would relate to this song if they were going through a rough breakup and need some words for encouragement or even for some empowerment.

“I done had my share of being walked all over, now I’m smarter,” Naija sings. “You think you right all you want, I just see through you just like water.”

With this album, I’ve definitely seen growth with Queen Naija’s music and many of her fans are proud of her for expressing her feelings through this project.
