“Can You Feel the Sun” with MISSIO’s new album

A review on MISSIO’s new album

The pop rock band MISSIO with band members David Butler and Matthew Brue have been making music since 2016. They recently released their third album, “Can You Feel the Sun” on October 23, 2020, which includes 10 tracks.

“Can You Feel the Sun,” the first song on the album, talks about isolation and also goes into life struggles. During part of the song which talked about the isolation and life struggles, I felt as if they were trying to mask the lyrics with a happy and upbeat melody like when people say that they are fine but really aren’t.

In the second song on the album titled, “Losing my Mind,” Matthew Brue sings about insecurities and doubts. While listening to the song, I noticed how one moment the beat of the song would be low and then next it would be high and energetic. What came to mind when I noticed that was when having doubts or insecurities, you can go back and forth on whether or not you like or dislike something or if you’re right or wrong.

“Roman Empire,” being the eighth song, talks down or disagrees  about some systems and laws. Naming the song Roman Empire was referencing when they were suppressing and taxing people, which I can feel like many people didn’t like. Another song on track, “Wolfs,” also talks about laws, but in different countries.

Personally my favorite song from the album is “We All Burn to the Ground.” Although every song on the album is unique and thoughtfully crafted, it was the hypnotic yet calming quality of the song that drew me to it. In the song, Brue talked about how love matters no matter the religion.

If there is one thing I can say, it’s that they have once again surprised both the fans and myself with another wonderful album. They have some great talent and you can tell that they put a lot of thought into their lyrics and the mood of their songs. So if you would like to experience and listen to the rest of their songs on the album, you can find their music on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
