Krista Myers is a new biology teacher at Oakmont.

She has been teaching for 13 years and went to the University of California Santa Barbara as well as California State University, Sacramento.

“I have taught at Natomas Middle School, Center High School, Antelope High School, Barrett Ranch Elementary, and I was a counselor at Rocklin High School,” Myers said

Everyone, even teachers, wish they can accomplish that one thing or overcome that one obstacle as quickly and as soon possible.

“I wish I was better at playing the piano,” Myers said. “That would be fun.”

As students get to know the new teacher at Oakmont, they all want to know what motivates them to teach everyday and why they decided to become a teacher.

“I really like teaching ninth graders because I think they’re so fun,” Myers said. “They still laugh at my jokes.”

Due to the difficulties of classes on Zoom and not being able to socialize with other students, Myers gave one piece of advice that she thinks would be the most valuable during a time like this.

“Right now, make that extra step to meet new people,” Myers said. “Keep taking those chances, even if it’s awkward.”
