The video game creator and developer, Eric Barone, who is also known as ConcentratedApe, released an announcement for a new video game currently in development, on Oct. 21, 2021.

Barone’s announcement and trailer for “Haunted Chocolatier” caught the attention of several people immediately as he is well known for his popular, relaxing indie game “Stardew Valley” that came out in 2016.

“Stardew Valley,” which Barone created initially by himself without a team, has many traits that make the game loved as it grows its success five years later.

The main premise of “Stardew Valley” is for you to take over your grandpa’s farm in Pelican Town after he passes. You get to mine, fish, farm, meet the people who live in the town, form both friendly and romantic relationships with them, and learn about all the mysterious things hidden in the town.

Just like “Stardew Valley,” the game seems to have layers beyond its simplicity.

“With my next game, I wanted to explore more fantastical possibilities, experiences that take you beyond the ordinary,” Barone said.

In terms of the plot, the trailer shows that your character moves into a town as a chocolatier, collects ingredients, and makes chocolate in a mansion to then sell. Though it seems simple, the trailer also shows that there are ghosts and monsters included in the game.

In the announcement, there were small details regarding the genre of the game.

“The haunted castle represents the allure of the unknown,” Barone said. “The ghosts represent the imprint of the past.”

Though the game includes creepy little trinkets, Barone wanted to ensure that the game is not at all supposed to be scary, instead relaxing and comforting.

The game itself has shown to have the same comfortable style as “Stardew Valley,” so it’s motive isn’t to make people nervous while playing it.

“Haunted Chocolatier” has been in development for about a year now, and Barone has yet to set a release date.

The announcement and trailer themselves are already a huge deal, and now that he has a team to work with, the development may run smoother, and the release date may come sooner than expected.
